Celebrating Growth: Model Farmers Flourish Through One Health Approach

During a recent visit to Chaurjahari Municipality, our Monitoring Officer had the joy of engaging with eight inspiring model farmers who are actively applying the One Health Approach in their farms.

🌱 Farming Success & Satisfaction

  • Seven out of eight farmers proudly shared that their farms are thriving and showing promising results.
  • All eight expressed full satisfaction with the transformative training they received at the One Health Centre.
  • They also deeply appreciated HDCS’s ongoing support, including mentoring after training, guidance during planning and implementation, and strategic investment in farm development.

🌿 Empowered Learning & Innovation

Every farmer was excited about the opportunity to learn fresh ideas and techniques. They reflected on how the training broadened their understanding of sustainable practices and sparked innovative thinking in managing their farms.

🥕 Shifting to Income-Generating Crops

A key highlight for many was transitioning from traditional crops like rice and wheat, to vegetable farming. This shift has not only ignited motivation but is already creating small-scale income and improving household nutrition.

🌍 Putting One Health into Action

One participant enthusiastically described how they’re now integrating One Health principles beyond farming—into environmental stewardship, hygiene, sanitation, and waste management—turning knowledge into daily practice.

✨ Looking Ahead

Overall, the farmers conveyed a strong eagerness to continue learning. They requested additional mentoring visits from HDCS staff to further build their confidence and ensure accurate implementation of what they’ve learned.

Our model farmers shared their heartfelt thanks to HDCS and its partners, BMZ and TerraTech, for the invaluable support that brought this transformative project to life in Chaurjahari. With renewed confidence, clarity, and strong community backing, they’re eager to keep growing and making a lasting difference.
